At the Blu Note in NYC, neither Opal nor Isaiah, had a single clue that they were about to collide with “the love of their lives” and their world was about to completely change in a small but celebrity studded green room.


Isaiah calms his mind and body amidst all the noise. He breathes deeply and goes over the music in his mind. As his fingers strum the strings of an invisible guitar, he inclines his ear to hear the rhythm of the busy streets outside. Its silent roar tucks deep below the excited voices of fans invading the room. If you incline your ear just so……. you can hear the outside rhythm too……


Downstairs, Danielle effortlessly walks Opal through the room, up the stairs, past the line of anxious fans and straight to the green room. They had come all the way from Chicago and Danielle was excited to see her friends before they perform. Opal smiles and follows. The space grows more cramped with every step. Opal thought, “let’s go back and sit” but Danielle holds her hand as the crowd of people split like the Red Sea. Standing in the doorway, Opal sees a familiar face quietly observing the cramped room as he sits very relaxed on an unoccupied couch.

The two catch eyes.

“ Opal?” Isaiah asked.

“Isaiah?” Opal responded.

“What you doing here? Who you here with?” , Isaiah asked with a hint of skepticism.

“With Danielle” , Opal tosses back at him very cavalierly. “May I sit?”
